When painting meets rock music. LIGNE DE FRONT was started by Paul Bloas (painter) and Serge Teyssot-Gay (Rock Band guitarist of Bands Noir Désir / Zone Libre / Interzone.) LIGNE DE FRONT, an art performance in situ allows Paul to enter the universe from painting to music and links both at the same time.

The painter will create two characters, giants painted on wooden panels, fed by the distortion of the guitar. These paintings and improvisations influence, question and answer each other in a landscape of sound, of drawn lines, painted and dreamt, within one hour.

Paul Bloas is a well known artist in Brest since 1980 for his « silhouettes », painting of giants on scattered walls in abandoned places such as ancient trade port, historical area and also the prison of Pontaniou that was closed in 1990 and reborn thanks to Paul’s artwork the following year.

He usually paints on specific papers in his studio, then sticks them “in situ” on walls he had been searching for. Form then, his technique and strong style were rapidely well-recognized. In 90’s he continued to install his ‘ giants’ in Berlin, Budapest, Bilbao and Madagascar. Unlike other artists, Paul prefers to treat his oeuvres in an “absolut ephemeral ”way. As time goes by, his paintings will degrade from the walls, becoming vague and eventually disappear.Sometimes tiny traces will be left behind, because of the sunlight, the wind or the rain. The will of the nature leaving us memoirs of Paul’ s passage.
